Henin claims back-to-back titles
Top seed Justine Henin won the Qatar Open on Saturday with a comfortable 6-4
6-2 victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova.
The Belgian, who won in Dubai last week, came from 4-2 down to take the first
set and then broke three times in the second set to claim the title.
It was her 14th win in 15 matches against Russian Kuznetsova, whom she also
beat in the semi-finals in Dubai.
It was an emphatic victory for Henin, 24, who endured tough three-setters in
both her quarter-final and semi-final.
The world number two had to save a match point against Patty Schnyder in the
last eight.
"Justine is just too tough mentally," said Kuznetsova. "I play well against
her, but she's just so strong that you can't do much."
Ironically, Kuznetsova's only victory against Henin came at this tournament
in 2004, the Belgian's only previous appearance at the Qatar event.
Henin is the first non-Russian to win the title for five years.
Kuznetsova was also the runner-up in 2004 when she lost to compatriot
Anastasia Myskina.
