Carlos talks about Justine's new lifestyle.

"We learned that Justine has delicate smaller intestine, and bacteria can
cause problems. This explained Justine's fatigue and vulnerable immune
system. It was a huge awakening for us. We made a complete change in the
manner of approaching her career and training. As you know her mother
contracted intestinal cancer," said Carlos.
Every five years Justine must past a full medical exam because of her family
and personal medical history. One big change for Justine is her diet. Last
year during the US OPEN Justine had said she lacked energy and had a problem
sleeping. "I told her that you should change lifestyle habits - you are a
sportsperson. We hired a dietetician named Paulette Pourtois. The goal isn't
to win matches, but to help Justine live a healthy lifestyle and enhance her
day to day activities. You can imagine the stress that she lives with because
of the virus in 2004, and the Australian Open 2006. The fear is there with
the history."
No more chocolate in the evening, and no foods with heavy sauces. Justine
also does not drink dairy milk, she has rice milk. Stress and dairly products
produces more acid in Justine's stomach. It's a new thing for everyone, but
Carlos handles things well too.
Carlos went on to say, "Justine has become self aware. The only thing that I
can do is supply the tool, and help her go far. Here in New York Justine
rests very well. She is able to walk around, and enjoys shopping at 5th
Avenue. But the city is so hectic and crowded that it's tiring. At night
before and after dinner Justine has stretching sessions with her physio Marc.
She's become really professional only recently, but I think it can only be
beneficial."
