Wrong, Hewitt is a counter puncher, if you look at what Moya said last year
when he beat Hewitt before US open, Moya said he gave a lot top spin to Hewitt
on both forehand and backhand, with heavy top spin shots Hewitt can't counter
punch successfully, in most cases Hewit rely on his very good court sense and
his ultra clean game, his opponents often makes the errors. Hewitt is not a
shot maker and he rely on consistancy rather than outright winners. This is
one reason why Hewitt has not had good success on clay, he simply can't
generate the winners and power on his shot to be a serious threat to some of
the very top clay court player.

But I don't remember Sampras and Henman served at more than 70% on their
first serve in on any of those occassion they played Hewitt, Sampras was
the best server in tennis history but he never serve quite as well as Karlovic did on
Monday having 70% first serve in, Sampras generally served around 50% first
serve in and won around 80% of the time on first serve. Karlovic served
unbelievably well and he won nearly 80% of points on his first serve.
I do agree Hewitt like to play serve and volleyers, he can certainly hammers
Sampras, specially in the last few year when Sampras was often play well
beyond his best year, he just does not do enough on Hewitt's service game with
his ground shots. Henman on the other hand was never a really top serve and
volleyer, his first serve is only OK and his second serve is not quite good
enough and his ground shots are never quite good enough or consistant enough
to put pressure on Hewitt's game. Hewitt had problems with another serve and
volleyer such as Escude who can put pressure on Hewitt's game.
