BOBCATS FORWARD JARED DUDLEY (22ND OVERALL) (Opening statements) 山貓前鋒Jared Dudley (22順位) 開場白 Thanks for having me. Being drafted in the NBA has always been a dream of mine. I am very excited to come to Charlotte. I have a lot of family in Wilmington, North Carolina. When I came out here to work out, I saw the coaching staff and everything that is going on with this city. I’m excited to be a part of a new, upcoming, young team with a good head coach. I’m just looking for the opportunity to come in and do whatever I can do for this team to help them win and get to the next level, and I feel that there are some things that I can offer on the court. I am a good person on and off the court, and hopefully I can help this team get to the next level. Thank you. 我很高興來到這邊。在NBA的選秀會被遴選，一直是我的夢想。我很興奮能來到山貓。我有很多親戚住在北卡羅萊納州威明頓市。當我來這邊訓練時，就對這邊的教練團跟運作有所了解。我很興奮成為一名好教練所帶領的年輕球隊。我期許自己能將這個隊伍帶到一個新的層次，我自認為我有那個能力。無論在場上或場下，我都是很好相處的人，希望能幫助球隊到達新的層次。 (On if he thinks he made a good impression in his workout) I thought I played well in my workout. I was working out with bigs in Herbert Hill and Chris Richard, so the drills were a little bit different. The Bobcats had, if not the hardest workout, one of the hardest workouts out of all of them. They go hard and it was intense. I thought I did pretty well and I was definitely shocked, but happy, to be drafted by Charlotte. (他是否覺得自己在訓練時留下好印象) 我覺得自己的表現不錯。我跟大個子Herbert Hill跟Chris Richard一起訓練，所以進行了不同以往的練習。山貓的訓練是數一數二的操，難度高又很激烈。我覺得自己表現不錯，被山貓選上讓我又驚又喜。 (On why he was shocked to be drafted by Charlotte) I just didn’t get much feedback from Charlotte or my agent. I knew I played well, I liked the coaching staff and I thought we got along well. I didn’t get a phone call from my agent that I was going to be selected. (為什麼他會驚訝被山貓選上) 我在訓練後沒有從山貓或是經紀人那邊聽說什麼。我知道我表現不錯，我也跟教練團很合得來。不過我沒有接到從經紀人的通知說我會被選上。 (On what he believes will be his best position in the NBA) My whole life I have been a 3/4. I’ve been able to guard low post players by using my basketball IQ. I’m comfortable in any position. I’m just here to help the team win, whether it is playing defense, rebounding the ball or taking charges. I feel like my role here is to do the little things I did in college. (他覺得自己處在NBA打的位置) 我這一生都打三號四號。我能夠用我的籃球IQ去對付低位單打的球員。我無論被指派什麼位置都能接受。我來這邊就是要幫助球隊贏球，不管是防守、搶籃板、進行犯規我都會做。我覺得我來這邊的工作就是做那些我在大學時期所做的小事情。 (On what he knows about Charlotte) I don’t know that much. My Dad is from Wilmington and I came here during the summer, so I’ve been to Charlotte a couple of times. I know there are a lot of trees and a lot of green, and it gets hot in the summer (laughter). It’s different from Boston, it’s a lot warmer, so I’ll be a lot happier. The fans support their teams as you see with the (Carolina) Panthers and now the Bobcats. This is exciting to move in and have this be my new home, and I’m going to embrace it as much as I can. (他對於夏洛特市的認識) 我其實所知不多。我爸是在威明頓長大的，所以我暑假來過幾次。我知道有很多樹很多草，夏天會很熱(笑)。這點跟波士頓完全不同，所以我會很喜歡這裡。這裡的球米也很支持球隊。我很期待在這邊建立我的新家。 (On playing for a Michael Jordan-led organization) If anyone told me that I was going to be playing under Michael Jordan when I was younger, I would have told them that they were lying. This is a dream come true. He is the best, he expects the best, and I do that to myself. I expect myself to give 100 percent on and off the court. I expect to come in here wanting to play and doing everything I can to get on the court. (在Michael Jordan帶領的組織) 如果你在我小時候跟我說我會在Michael Jordan底下工作，我打死也不信。這是美夢成真。他是最好的球員，也期望大家有最佳表現，因此也讓我一樣這樣要求自己。無論在場上或場下，我都要求自己能盡心盡力。 (On if it is intimidating to play under Michael Jordan) It is intimidating, but not in a negative way, he is someone that keeps you accountable. He’s been where you want to go and he’s done it all. He’s someone that you can go to for advice. Maybe you are in awe at first, but now this is basketball, and we’ve been playing it our whole lives. (在Michael Jordan底下工作有壓力嗎) 有壓力，但不是負面的。我們想要做的他都做過了。當你迷惘時，都可以找他。或許剛開始會有種敬畏之心，不過畢竟這是籃球，這是我們窮極一生在做的事情。 (On how emotion enhances his game) It’s something that I’ve had since I was younger. I expect that not only from myself, but from my teammates. During the year, we only played seven or eight guys, and a lot of guys played some big minutes on our team. There were times throughout the year that we needed a spark and I felt that my energy as well as Sean Marshall’s energy helped that. You are going to need that, especially in the ACC, when you are going into battle with the likes of Duke and North Carolina. It’s basically the 12 guys on our roster versus 20,000 people. Anything that I can do to help us win games or give us a spark to play harder and get a defensive stop, I’m willing to do that. (情緒如何影響比賽) 我從小就這樣了。我不但這樣的要求自己如此，也同樣要求隊友。今年我們大學球隊用八人輪替，很多球員幾乎打滿整場。很多時候我們需要有人讓大家振奮，我跟Sean Marshall 的活力做到了這一點。當你在大西洋區面臨杜克大學或是北卡大學，這就尤其重要。基本上，就像是我們12人在對抗20,000的人潮。因此我願意做任何能帶動士氣的行動。 (On what game at Boston College he considers his best memory) I would say beating North Carolina at Chapel Hill, just because growing up, I was a huge Tar Heels fan. I dreamed of going to North Carolina growing up and to finally go there and win was a dream come true.
