Kemba Walker scored 23 points in his first NBA start to lead the
Bobcats to a 112-100 victory over the visiting Warriors. Only one rookie in
each of the last two seasons scored as many as 23 points in his first NBA
start: Toney Douglas did it for the Knicks in November 2009 and Samardo
Samuels did so for the Cavaliers in March of last year. But each of those
players produced those points in a losing effort. It has been more than three
years since we saw a rookie score as many as 23 points in his first NBA start
and help his team to a victory in that game; that was Anthony Morrow of the
Warriors, who laid 37 points on the Clippers in his first start, back on Nov.
15, 2008.
