The San Jose Mercury-News has reported that “Nicolas Batum and Evan Turner are among the players being considered at small forward, per sources, if the Warriors don’t get Kevin Durant.” Batum played in his first season with the Charlotte Hornets this past year and he is a top-tier free agent this summer. A lot of teams will be vying for his signature in free agency. The Golden State Warriors are coming off of one of the best seasons in NBA history where they went 73-9 in the regular season. They lost in the NBA Finals to the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games. Adding Nicolas, could be a huge boost to an already great team. He also shot 42.6% from the field, 34.8% from the three-point line, and 84.9% from the free throw line. He only missed 12 games this past year and played in 35 minutes per game. Nic was one of the team’s best players this past season and he is set for a huge pay-day this summer. The Charlotte Hornets are hoping to re-sign him to a max, or near a max, contract this offseason when the free agency period starts on July 1st. He will be near the top of the list for many teams once he hits the open market. With the NAB Salary Cap set to jump up more than $20 million, Batum and other free agents are going to be signing some big contracts this summer. If Nicolas does decided to leave Charlotte, then the team will need to find a replacement in free agency. They should have their back-up plans ready.
