Jol pleased with effort
Martin Jol was pleased with how his side overcame the challenge of MK Dons in
the Carling Cup.
A trip to The National Hockey Stadium had the look of a potential upset, but
Spurs went about their work in a professional manner and ran out 5-0 winners
thanks to braces from Mido and Jermain Defoe and a late finish from
Robbie Keane.
Jol was impressed with MK Dons, but felt that his side were never in danger
after taking the lead.
"The start was not easy," Jol told Sky Sports News. "They played balls in our
box and they have a big target man, so there is always difficulty.
"But after that we settled and took our chances well and I think we had it
under control."
Although the strikers took the plaudits, the performance of Tom Huddlestone in
the midfield caught Jol's eye.
"The second half was good," added the Dutchman. "Tom Huddlestone pulled the
strings in midfield and the strikers scored good goals."
Jol is keen for Spurs to have a good run in the competition, as he added: "We
want to compete in all competitions if it is possible. Sometimes it is not
possible, but we had a strong team out tonight."
