Martin Jol offers his considered verdict on the team's performances over the Christmas period... OUR RESULTS AND performances over Christmas could have been worse, but they could have been better too. Against Liverpool, for me, the first half was a bad one where we couldn't create, while they only had one chance before the stoppage time goal. In the second half I thought we could have scored two or three goals and we played better than them. Dimitar Berbatov came on and made a difference again and, while we had the likes of Jermaine Jenas, Robbie Keane and Aaron Lennon out, they had nearly everyone available to them. I feel we are going in the right direction, but it was disappointing to see our first half performance. Aston Villa was good on Boxing Day and I still think we should have picked up three points at Portsmouth. When you concede a soft goal like we did against Liverpool and Portsmouth through giving the ball away you mostly get punished. We have talked about it and when you lose the ball you must be more decisive and get one or two tackles in to get the ball back. We didn't do that, it is about us and we are still learning. We have great talents. For example, I would not swap Tom Huddlestone for anyone else in England at the moment, but we've got to learn, be better and tougher in the tackle. At Fratton Park I felt we played a good and organised game, but still conceded a soft goal. We should have scored one or two more goals that would have won us the three points away from home, which would have been terrific against a s trong side. I am not satisfied with our return over the Christmas period, but not too disappointed either. It has been a busy period for us and that is something that is really satisfying, Portsmouth was our 10th game in 30 days. Portsmouth have not played in Europe, are no longer in the Carling Cup and we looked as fit as them so that was good. We kept their crowd fairly quiet and were the better team, but if you are on top in a game you have to score goals. We we down at half-time though and I thought the players showed a good reaction. ============================================================================== 聖誕之後的成績挺糟糕的但是也可能變好對上Liverpool的比賽上半我們打的太差沒有攻勢而且還被對方抓住唯一的機會下半應該可以進兩三球我們打的比他們更好整個比賽的進行方向很好但是結果讓人失望對Villa的比賽很棒對Pompey的比賽我們也應該拿下三分的我們還有很多必須學習對Liverpool ,Pompey的比賽我們丟了鳥球因為我們丟球沒有一次 ,兩次不斷的努力把球搶回來我們因此付出代價我們有幾位有才能的球員像是Huddlestone 他是同年紀獨一無二的但是他還必須學習學更硬的斷球在Fratton Park我們打的很好很有組織性但是我們丟了個鳥球下半我們絕對有機會進兩球以上全取三分主隊進步很多非常堅強這陣子的連戰讓人不是很安心也不至於失望 Portsmouth除了連在沒其他的比賽我們則是30天內第10場比賽而我們體力卻跟他們一樣充沛這點非常棒 -- 我們反搶和凶狠度應該算是英超倒數的這點真的要加油 -- 咬人美！受傷美！正太美！嘴砲美！拿牌美！胸肌美！翻滾美！沒有美的球隊都給我輸球贏球美！鐵人美！隱形美！放槍美！相談美！失誤美！板凳美！抱頭美！ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 124.25.216.146
