新聞來源 - Sky Sports Defoe: I had to be professional Jermain Defoe admits he could not allow sentiment to get in the way as he finished off Charlton Athletic's Premiership survival bid. With The Addicks pressing to overturn Dimitar Berbatov's early goal, former Charlton youngster Defoe struck an injury-time second for Tottenham Hotspur at The Valley. Despite his past association with the club, the striker concedes he had to prioritise his current commitment to Spurs. "At the end of the day you've got to be professional and win the game for your team," Defoe told Sky Sports 1. "It's a shame they are down, I've got a lot of friends here." The victory lifted Spurs into sixth in the table and Defoe is confident the club can qualify for the Uefa Cup for the second season in succession. He added: "We should be in Europe, we had a good run in Europe this season and we want to be there again." Defoe also praised Berbatov, whose clever flick and cool finish set Spurs on their way to the 2-0 triumph. "He does that every day in training, he's unbelievable," Defoe said of his fellow striker.
