Robbie Keane said the aim is to get 'better and better' when he looked back on a campaign that saw the team record a successive fifth place finish. Of course, last season was considerably different from the one before. In season 2005-06 we played just 40 games and were able to place an almost 100 percent focus on securing European football. In the just concluded season the team took part in 59 games as they battled gamely on all fronts. League form did suffer for a spell as a result of the sheer volume of cup games early on in the year, but the team then hit a consistent spell and lost just one Premiership game from mid-February onwards. Robbie reflected that finishing in the top five is something the team can be satisfied with. "I think we have to be considering that around Christmas time we were struggling a little bit and it wasn't looking good for a UEFA Cup spot," he looked back. "Taking that into account we have to be happy with the way it worked out at the end. "It was very different with all the competitions, but personally I prefer it that way. I like to play a lot of games because it keeps you ticking over. Maybe we struggled a little bit at the start but after that we got into it and adapted." With the experience now tucked under collective belts, Robbie suspects the squad are now poised to push on. "I feel we can. Every season you want to progress and it is important we do. With this squad of players we have and, if it does get added to in the summer, we have to push on and fight for more. "We want to get better and better, we have finished fifth for two seasons and we want to be higher than that. "Certainly next season we will be a better team because we will have gelled together more.
