Juande Ramos felt we could have taken further advantage of our bright start in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Blackburn. We dominated the first quarter of the match against a Rovers side now boasting a record of just two defeats in their last 15 league games. Dimitar Berbatov took just seven minutes to open the scoring after Steed Malbranque and Jermaine Jenas opened up the home defence. We got into numerous promising positions and created further chances, most notably when Berbatov went through one-on-one against Friedel, who saved. Rovers responded on the half-hour via Morten Gamst Pedersen and it was even after that - Friedel saved from Aaron Lennon and Malbranque in the second half while Rovers had a big shout for a penalty when David Bentley clashed with Gilberto. "In the first half we had some excellent chances," reflected Juande at Ewood Park. "We had good possession of the ball and with the chances we created, we maybe should have decided the game in that first half. "Then the equaliser came and that meant the second half was much more even and as the game went on, there were less and less chances and it was always going to be a draw towards the end. Asked why we couldn't find that crucial second goal, Juande responded: "It was a case of not being more assertive in the final shot. Football is all about converting chances and we were in front of goal on a number of occasions with some real opportunities and it was just about not being decisive enough in that final finish."
