There was a sense of deja-vu for Juande Ramos as he reflected on the 1-1 draw in the semi-final, first leg of the Carling Cup at Arsenal on Wednesday night. Just a fortnight after a narrow 2-1 defeat at the Emirates that might well have been a win in the Barclays Premier League, Head Coach Juande saw his side dominate possession and create the better chances but still not grasp that win against our old rivals. Few argued afterwards that we deserved more than a 1-1 draw to take back to the second leg at the Lane on Tuesday January 22. In the end, Theo Walcott's 79th minute equaliser handed the Gunners a lifeline in the tie after Jermaine Jenas opened the scoring with 36.05 on the clock. "This tie is played over 180 minutes, we've played 90 and I think we deserved a better result," said Juande at the Emirates. "But we've got a 1-1 draw and now there are 90 minutes left.
