Chimbonda optimistic on deal
Pascal Chimbonda's agent is optimistic Tottenham will open contract talks
with his client in the near future.
Chimbonda is close to completing his second season at White Hart Lane, but is
yet to secure an extension with the club.
However, the former Wigan man's agent Roger Boli is hopeful Spurs will open
talks shortly in a bid to fend off interest from elsewhere.
Chimbonda was linked with a move to Newcastle during the January transfer
window, while Aston Villa have also been mentioned as potential suitors.
"We expect to discuss a contract extension for Pascal. It all depends on
Spurs' directors," Boli told setantasports.com.
"It's up to them to decide if they want to keep him or not. I'm optimistic on
both options.
"The first one would be Pascal being offered a new deal and the second one
would see him being transferred by Spurs.
"Newcastle's offer was serious, but they are in a bizarre situation and I
don't know if Kevin Keegan will stay at the club next season."
