Pistons aren't done adapting to Allen Iverson

The next steps in the Allen Iverson adjustment period are getting Rasheed
Wallace more involved offensively and minimizing defensive miscues.
Earlier steps included meshing Iverson with the best supporting cast he's
ever had, finding a way to get both Iverson and Richard Hamilton ample
scoring opportunities and keeping Tayshaun Prince aggressive offensively.
In the Pistons' 120-114 double-overtime loss to visiting Utah on Friday,
Iverson, Hamilton and Prince combined for 85 points.
Iverson accounted for 38, his best output as a Piston. Hamilton scored a
season-high 30, and Prince netted 17 on 7-for-15 shooting -- his seventh time
in eight games with at least 11 field goal attempts.
But elsewhere on the court, Wallace was limited to 12 points on 4-for-10
shooting. His points came on four triples (though two came late to send the
game into overtime). He hasn't reached 20 points in his last 13 games, a
stretch that includes seven single-digit scoring games.
"We need to get it to Rasheed in the block more, so we can have a good
balance of our scoring," coach Michael Curry said Saturday. "Our guards just
happened to be scoring it. On some drop-offs, he was wide open for some
easier baskets, I thought. The guards have to see that, and 'Sheed has to
continue to get into the post for us, and we got to do a good job of
delivering him the ball."
On the other end, the Pistons allowed Utah point guard Deron Williams to roam
free for a season-high 29 points and eight assists. After Williams and
ex-Piston Mehmet Okur (26 points, 12 rebounds) re-entered the game with 7:24
left in regulation, the Jazz went on a 21-8 run.
"They had a lot of stuff going on weak side," Curry said. "When we trapped
their pick-and-rolls, we weren't sure which guy was going up for the
rotation. We weren't in the right position to cut off their penetration. We
got to continue to come up with rebounds, and when we get in a bad position,
we can't give up three-point play opportunities."
The Pistons are 10-10 with Iverson but have won three of their last four.
