Date of birth: 4 June 1979 Position: Forward Current Club: Hamburger SV (GER) Speedy forward who ranks amongst the top 10 international goalscorers for Japan. Takahara has served his nation at the 1995 and 1999 FIFA World Youth Championships, the 2000 Olympics and the 2001 and 2003 editions of the FIFA Confederations Cup. Health issues kept him out of the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup.
