Date of birth: 20 July 1977 Position: Defender Current Club: Urawa Reds (JPN) Brazilian-born midfielder, who is mostly uitilised as a left winger, and has been a regular in the Japanese national team since 2002, when he repre- sented hosts Japan at the FIFA World Cup. Also played for his adopted nation at the 2003 and 2005 editions of the FIFA Confederations Cup. Should be able to confirm a squad place for Japan’s Germany-bound squad, but could be hard pressed by talented youngsters.
