Date of birth: 15 August 1975 Position: Goalkeeper Current Club: Jubilo Iwata (JPN) Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi is the heartthrob figure of the Japan squad, attracting admirers for his talent as well as an army of female followers with his handsome looks. Kawaguchi enjoys immense popularity in Japan, but it is his goalkeeping prowess which has made the 29-year-old the star he is today. 川口能活是位讓球迷心跳加速的守門員，不論他的狀態是好是壞…使得他在球場上總是擁有一份難以形容的吸引力，當然啦這也跟他俊俏的外表有關，總是吸引一拖拉庫女性球迷的追逐。當然川口能活在日本擁有這樣的人氣不完全和他外表有關，這位年紀 29 歲的守門員如今能享有這樣的地位也和他防守球門的天才有關。 Encouraged by brother Yuichi, Kawaguchi began to play football with his school team and his gifts were quickly spotted as he became their goalkeeper, denying older players the number one jersey. Kawaguchi was to prove successful as Japan won the AFC Asian Games in 2004, and recorded good results against European champions Greece (1-0) and Brazil (2-2) at the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup in Germany. 總是在漂亮撲救後馬上爬起來開球尋找快速反擊的機會，川口在 96 年亞特蘭大奧運裡出色的表現幫助日本 1 - 0 戰勝當時被看好的巨人巴西。另外在 2004 年的亞洲盃也再次幫助日本奪下桂冠，在 05 年聯合會盃中更有超水準的演出，完封歐洲冠軍希臘以及戰平世界冠軍巴西。 Despite these achievements, the previous two FIFA World Cups have not been happy for Kawaguchi as he played Japan’s three defeats at France 98 and lost his place in goal for Korea/Japan 2002 after a short and unhappy spell with English side Portsmouth.
