I don’t like to compare anything, but Langston’ s mindset of being willing to take that big shot, take the open shot, just having the opportunity out there, I think Langston loves those moments.” Linsanity was born three years ago in the wake of the last time the Patriots were in the Super Bowl — losing to the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. But it definitely hurts. It ’s discouraging sometimes and disappointing. All of those emotions, of course. But I let the game dictate that.” Lin had two respectable seasons in Houston after leaving New York, but saw his role reduced as the talent around him grew to contender level in the brutal Western Conference. He saw significant action in the Rockets’ playoff series defeat by the Blazers before being dealt to the Lakers to open up cap space. Now he finds himself fighting for a similar reserve role — or worse — on a team with far less ability. Scott’s first season back in Los Angeles has been a disaster, from Bryant’s questionable shooting to prized rookie Julius Randle missing all but 14 minutes of his season with a broken leg to Nick Young saying “pretty much just give me the ball and get out of the way” after Bryant’s injury. Though Lin’s rise came with Anthony out with a groin injury, it appears no Linsanity sequel is coming out West. “The only thing that has been consistent is the amount of inconsistency I’ ve had in my life,” Lin said. “I’ve gone from getting cut in the D-League to starting to playing heavy minutes to all these different roles every week.
