England swoop for Capello
Friday 17 February, 2006
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fabio Capello has been approached by the Football Association
with a view to him becoming the head Coach of England,
according to reports in Italy.
The English FA have been looking for a new man to take over
after the World Cup this summer, ever since the decision was taken
last month for Sven Goran Eriksson to step down after the tournament.
Candidates that have so far been linked to the post include
former Celtic boss Martin O'Neill, Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce
and Alan Curbishley of Charlton Athletic.
However, it has since emerged that the FA are interested in luring
a more high-profile name, with Capello's exemplary success record
at club level putting him top of their wish list.
Capello has been repeatedly linked with a move to Real Madrid,
where he won the Primera Liga in his only season in Spain 1996,
but with Capello having indicated recently that he would be interested
in trying a new adventure, the England job could well appeal.
“I have always said that I would be interested in working in England,”
he told Football Italia in November.
While, last month, he also revealed that he would not be averse
to bossing an international team.
“Coaching a foreign national side appeals to me,” he said in January.
“This would take up two to three months of my time and would allow me
to travel.”
However, whether or not Don Fabio is yet ready to walk out on
Juventus remains to be seen.
He has always maintained that he will see out his contract until
the end of next season, before embarking on a new challenge.
The English FA, however, are said to be prepared to offer him
a luxury pad in London in addition to a salary of £4.7m a year
until the 2010 World Cup.

Capello in England link

Rumours in Italy suggest Juventus tactician Fabio Capello is on
The Football Association's shortlist to become the next England manager.
With Sven Goran Eriksson already confirmed to be leaving the post
immediately after the World Cup, speculation has been rife as to
who will become the Swede's successor.
The latest name to be mooted is the hugely-successful Capello,
with The FA reported to be willing to offer the Italian
a four-year contract worth in the region of €28 million (£19 million).
Whether The FA are able to succeed in their attempts to land Capello
is unclear, however, with the former Real Madrid and Milan coach
recently underlining his commitment to the Serie A leaders at least
until the end of his existing Bianconeri contract which does not
expire until the summer of 2007.
Another possible sticking point could be the reticence of The FA's board
to ratify the appointment of another foreign coach to succeed Eriksson
amid a clamour for a home-grown alternative which continues to gather pace.
Premier League chairman Dave Richards recently confirmed that The FA
were considering English candidates for the post with Sam Allardyce,
Stuart Pearce and Alan Curbishley all believed to be in the running.

Serie A round-up: Capello for England
Eurosport - 17/2/2006, BH
Juventus coach Fabio Capello has been approached by the FA
with a view to his becoming the next England coach, according to reports.
Also, Inter are ready to break the bank to lure Liverpool's Rafa Benitez
to the San Siro while Milan join the queue to sign Arsenal's Thierry Henry
in the summer.
FA CHASE CAPELLO
Sources in Italy are saying that the FA have offered Fabio Capello
a lucrative deal to step away from the Deli Alpi and Turin for
a new life in London.
It has emerged that the Football Association is looking for
a high-profile replacement for Sven-Goran Ericsson after
he steps down after the World Cup.
Since the initial championing of British coaches such as Alan Curbishley,
Stuart Pearce and Martin O'Neill it would appear that a name with more
European success behind him is preferred, and Don Fabio's CV would
certainly fit that bill.
Having won everything on offer in Italian, Spanish and European football,
the former Real Madrid coach has recently been quoted as saying he would
enjoy the challange of working in England and that perhaps the time
is right for him to move into the international game.
“Coaching a foreign national side appeals to me,” he said in January.
“This would take up two to three months of my time and would allow me
to travel.”
The deal supposedly tabled by the FA would include a plush London pad
and a reported salary of around 6.5 million Euros a year.
Whether or not this is enough to tempt him away from the Italian champions
remains to be seen though, as he has also indicated that he wishes
to see out the remainder of his current contract.

Mancini,
二是 Milan朝 Arsenal王牌射手 Henry進軍,
都頗妙,連同我們家這則 Capello轉戰英格蘭國家隊,
就當奇觀看看吧~(爆)
