Buffon: It was like Anfield again

Gianluigi Buffon analyses what went wrong against Arsenal,
spotting parallels with last year's Champions League exit to Liverpool.

“We had an evident dip in fitness levels in the second half
and Arsenal over-ran us. We had done well in the first half
and conceded a goal on the counter-attack, which is their best tactic.
I don't know if it was our problem or the Gunners stepping up a gear,
especially as they rested at the weekend,” said the goalkeeper.
「我們下半場狀態明顯下滑而 Arsenal超越了我們，
我們上半場踢得不錯，因反擊丟了一球，那是他們最好的戰術，
我不知道是我們的問題還是 Arsenal進了一檔，尤其是他們在週末休息到了。」
There has been a distinct lack of sharpness in the Bianconeri side
recently and the Gunners showed that to its full effect,
with Mauro German Camoranesi and Jonathan Zebina seeing red late on.
最近的 JUVE明顯不再銳利，而 Arsenal展現了最大效力，
Camoranesi、Zebina又在最後階段領紅牌下場。
“When a team like Arsenal takes the lead and has a player
like Thierry Henry, they can focus on the counter-attack
and his extraordinary pace. Perhaps it got on our nerves to see
that even at the 90th minute Henry had such strength and pace,
so the challenges went in a little later than usual.
I'm not sure if that lack of sharpness is a physical
or a psychological issue.”
「當一隻像 Arsenal這樣的球隊取得領先又擁有像 Henry這樣的球員，
他們就可以專注於反擊和他非凡的步調，或許是到了將近九十分鐘，
Henry還有那樣的體力跟速度讓我們神經緊張，所以接戰總比往常慢了一點，
我不確定欠缺銳利是導因於體能上或是心態上的問題。」
Buffon also explains what went awry on a tactical level in London
and the similarities to last year's quarter-final exit to Liverpool.
Buffon也解釋了倫敦一戰，在戰術上哪裡出現偏差，
以及與去季八強被 Liverpool淘汰的相似之處。
“We had talked about trying to give them as little opportunity
as possible to hit us on the break, but in my view we instead stopped
playing altogether. Evidently we didn't understand the Coach's requests.
It's a similar game to the one we lost at Liverpool.
I don't know if we suffer the English climate, but at least at Anfield
we had scored an away goal. There was a sense of deja vu.”
「我們討論過試著給他們一些可能的機會打反擊，
不過這馬上導致我們不再像個整體踢球，很明顯我們沒能瞭解教練的要求，
這跟輸給 Liverpool的那場比賽類似，我不知道我們是否受英格蘭的天候影響，
不過至少在 Liverppool主場我們還有一個客場進球，這感覺似曾相識。」
Juventus failed to get the 1-0 win they needed at the Delle Alpi to
qualify that time and now the test is even greater with two goals needed.
當時 JUVE在主場沒能以１－０取勝確保晉級，現在的考驗則要進兩球以上。
“Of course 2-0 is a difficult result to overturn,
especially at the end of a game that was essentially quite balanced,
but if we play to win and then see what happens, it is possible.
One of the problems is that we tend to cover for mistakes in Italy
by muscling our way back into possession, but in Europe with
a higher tempo you cannot afford these errors.”
「要逆轉２－０的比數當然有困難，特別是比賽末段實質上是平衡的，
但是如果我們為贏球而戰然後看看會發生什麼事，這是可能的，
其中一個問題是我們在義大利傾向於用肌肉戰贏回持球率來彌補錯誤，
在比賽節奏更快的歐洲，你禁不起這類的失誤。」
