Juve President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli hopes that football will
soon return to the principles that were so dear to Giacinto Facchetti.

“We will fight for the values and ideals that were at the base of
Giacinto's beliefs and behaviour, we owe it to him,”
said Cobolli Gigli entering the Lega Calcio headquarters on Wednesday.
Cobolli Gigli在週三進入職業聯盟總部前說：「基於 Giacinto的信念與品格，
我們將為其價值與理想而戰，這是我們該為他做的。」
“If the League meeting has not ended, we will interrupt it so we can
take part in the funeral. Facchetti's memory is too important and
we are all very close to his family in this difficult moment.
「如果屆時聯盟的會議尚未結束，我們會中斷會議，去參加他的喪禮，
關於 Facchetti的回憶太重要，我們在此艱難時刻都跟他的家人非常親近。」

“His death represented a loss for Inter and for all Italian football,”
added the Bianconeri official.

Facchetti's funeral will be held in Milan this afternoon
when an entire city will bid farewell to Il Capitano.

Many football representatives are expected,
including Karl Heinz Rummenigge and Michel Platini,
FIFA and UEFA representatives.

Brazilian legend Pele – who played in the 1970 World Cup Final
against Facchetti – will not be able to attend the ceremony,
but says he will be present in spirit.
“Facchetti was a friend, an example as a football player,
an unforgettable captain of his national team and a partner
in the FIFA Football commission,” stated the South American.
“He was a loyal opponent on the pitch, very honest,
there is no doubt that this is a loss for football on a global scale.”
