The Azzurri deservedly sneaked into the last eight of the World Cup after Francesco Totti slotted home an injury time penalty, a spot-kick which Alex says he would have stepped up to. “Had I still been on the pitch then I would have taken it,” the Juventus forward stated. “I would have had the strength to score it.” 談到義大利在終場前點球取勝，Del Piero說：「如果我還在場上我一定會去罰點球，我有那個實力能把球罰進！」 The Juventus captain surprisingly started the game as Marcello Lippi opted to drop Totti from the starting line-up. “I'm satisfied with how the game ended, but also on a personal level,” said the attacker who was fielded in a wide left position. “I'm happy because I gave everything that I could.
