Italy trio fly in for Pessotto

Ciro Ferrara left the Azzurri camp to visit Gianluca Pessotto,
as more details emerge on his fall from a window.

The recently retired player,
who had just been appointed Juventus Team Manager,
fell from a height of around 15 metres on to two parked cars
at the Juventus headquarters in Corso Galileo Ferraris, Turin.
He was conscious and clutching a rosary in his hand.

Pessotto underwent a three-hour operation at the Molinette hospital
and the Italy trio flew in with a private plane to visit
their former teammate, but he is in an induced coma to help ease
his passage through more surgery this evening to reduce the fractures.

“We took him in to stop some internal bleeding,”
revealed doctor Marco Repellino.
“His condition is stable. It seems as if he fell on his back.
He has no cranial lesions, but a microfracture to his jaw.
In essence, he fractured his pelvis, his coccyx and some vertebrae.
When he came in, he was able to move his legs.”
Another medical update is expected tomorrow morning,
but Pessotto is considered to be out of danger.
Marco Repellino醫生說：「我們止住了內出血，他的狀況穩定，
看來他是背部著地，頭骨沒有損傷，骨盆、尾骨跟部分脊椎骨有骨折，
他入院時還能移動雙腿。」進一步檢查報告預計在明天早上會出來，
不過 Repellino認為 Pessotto已經脫離險境。
“We are a little more optimistic now, even if the prognosis for
a patient with such strong trauma cannot be resolved before 48-72 hours,”
added doctor Ottavio Davini this evening.
Ottavio Davini醫生說：「我們現在稍微樂觀了一點，
儘管受到如此重創的病人在二到三天內的狀況都不一樣。」
The reasons behind this mystery fall, which occurred at
11am local time in Turin, are the subject of speculation after
unconfirmed reports of treatment for depression or a serious illness.
His car keys and mobile phone were found near the window.
“The idea is ridiculous, just like those who sustain it,”
slammed Juventus medic Professor Riccardo Agricola.
對於 Pessotto是因工作憂鬱或重病而自殺的傳聞，

“I met with Pessotto at half-time of Italy's match
with the Czech Republic in Hamburg,” added FIGC Press Officer
Antonello Valentini. “We hugged and he seemed happy.
Pessotto has always been a great example for everyone here
in terms of competence and professionalism. I really thought
this new job at Juventus had given him extra enthusiasm.”

The Bianconeri released a brief statement.
“Juventus FC embrace their Team Manager Gianluca Pessotto
and cheer him on in this difficult time in the hope to see him back
in the side soon.”

The defender is well respected throughout the Italian football community
and Inter patron Massimo Moratti also gave his view.
“It's difficult to say anything right now. Pessotto is a good man,
certainly a category above most in intellectual terms.
His tragedy is something we cannot possibly understand.
I hope he gets better and can see life in all its glorious colour again.”
Pessotto在義大利足壇備受尊敬，Inter老闆 Moratti說：
「現在很難說些什麼，Pessotto是個好人，幾乎可說是理智者的典範，
他的悲劇不是我們可以理解的，我希望他能好轉，重新看到生命的榮光與色彩。」
