Cobolli Gigli: “An unjustified punishment”
“Having read the reasoning behind the sentence, our opinion,
and the opinion of our lawyer, is that a punishment of this nature
is unjustified.” The President of Juventus, Giovanni Cobolli Gigli,
returned to the sentence passed by the CAF during
the season's opening press conference: “The reasoning behind
the sentence refers almost entirely to Article 1, not Article 6,
and an accumulation of venial sins can in no way amount to a mortal sin.
Our lawyer will have valid arguments to put forward in the second phase
of legal proceedings and I expect the situation to improve.
We should have every right to remain in Serie A and if we're in Serie B,
we're in Serie B and that's the end of it”.
主席 Giovanni Cobolli Gigli在開季的記者會上說：「讀過判決背後的理由，
我們與我們律師的看法，就是這樣的懲罰以常理論並不正當，
左右判決的素材幾乎全都來自第一條而非第六條，（*1）
而且一票輕微的罪累積起來也不該變成足以致死的重罪，（*2）
我們的律師將有可令人信服的論點來進行第二階段的訴訟，我期待狀況有所改善，
我們擁有一切該留在義甲的權利，如果降到義乙，那也就該以義乙為止。（*3）」

The President then turned to the court's decision to withhold
the award of the last scudetto: “It's unthinkable that they should
withhold the 2005/06 scudetto, as last season had nothing to do with
the inquiry. We won the titles thanks to our performances on the pitch,
it's a serious blow from a moral point of view”.
然後主席談到法庭學定收回上賽季冠軍的決定，他說：
「他們收回05/06賽季冠軍的決定讓人難以置信，去季沒有該被質疑之處，
我們是以在賽場上的表現贏得聯賽冠軍的，以道德觀點來看這是嚴重傷害。」
（結果主席在官網上還是有抗議，很好，新的領導層這一個月來的表現頗得我心，
討不討得回來是一回事，默許就太不可取了。）
His final thought was for the fans:
“They want to know they're being taken care of and it is important
they know that, having waited patiently for the sentence,
the club will react. Blanc and I expressed our dissatisfaction and
they appreciated that. I met the fans at the march on July the 1st
and I could feel their affection, the same affection I hope we will hear
from fans all over Italy, even if we end up in Serie B.”
最後他談到了球迷，他說：「他們想知道自己是被善待的，
這很重要，在耐心地等待到判決之後，必須讓他們知道，球會將有所回應，
Blanc跟我都表達了不滿，他們也對此表示感激，

*1：第一條是不給違規者聯賽冠軍頭銜或是沒收其已得的聯賽冠軍，
第六條是對違規者處以聯賽最後一名的處份，
主席認為按照法庭用上的證據，JUVE應該是被取消冠軍而非降級。
*2：簡單比喻就是說不會有人因為犯下太多起竊盜罪被判死刑。
*3：如*1所述，那麼就算降到義乙，也應該就止於此，不應該再被罰分。
