Barcelona boss Frank Rijkaard says he's delighted with
the captures of Gianluca Zambrotta and Lilian Thuram from Juventus.
The pair joined the club on Friday after a ￡13m fee was accepted
by the demoted Italian club and the Dutchman is content with
his latest reinforcements.
"In theory, we were quite happy with the side as it was,
but we could not ignore the opportunities that came up,”
he told the club's website.
Rijkaard說：「理論上來說我們相當滿意球隊以前的陣容，
但是我們不能忽視良機。」
“Barca have signed two players who will have something
to contribute and that's good because the season is long.
「Barca已經簽下兩名能做出貢獻的球員，這是好事，因為賽季很長。」
“There are lots of games and with these two players
we now have enough for our new adventure.
「比賽很多，有了這兩人我們現在足以展開新冒險了。」
"Zambrotta is a great player.
He has played at the highest level for many years.
He can play on either side, works hard and will have a lot to offer.
「Zambrotta是個出色的球員，他多年都在頂級水準的聯賽踢球，
兩邊都能打，勤奮，可以做出許多貢獻。」
“There is not much to say about Thuram, as a player he has won
everything and that's important for a team like ours that plays
at a high level with people who know exactly what they want the squad
to do out on the pitch to guarantee those successes.”
「對於 Thuram沒什麼好說的，作為球員他贏得了一切，
對我們這樣都跟頂級球員一起踢球的球隊來說這很重要，
他知道球隊在賽場上該做什麼以確保成功。」
Rijkaard, a former Milan legend, was also quick to dismiss claims
that the 34-year-old Thuram is past his best.
"That's not the case for me,” he stated. “Sports stars look after
themselves and do all they can to stay at peak fitness.
Rijkaard另外否認 Thuram太老：「對我來說這不成問題，
球星會照顧自己而且盡一切力量以保持巔峰狀態。」
（那些個胖子怎麼來的？他們也是球星啊！Zlatan還沒有很星就已經腫了！）
“People like that are very important to have in the dressing room
and out there on the pitch. And Thuram is a person like that.”
「這樣的人在更衣室裡與賽場上都會非常重要，Thuram就是一個。」
