Didier Deschamps believes that Gianluigi Buffon will not be
named European Player of the Year because of Juventus' failure
in the Champions League last term.
Deschamps認為 Buffon不會拿下金球獎，因為 JUVE去季在歐冠上的失敗。
The world champion was included in the shortlist of 50 players
who will compete for the 2006 award, along with Italy teammates
Fabio Cannavaro, Gennaro Gattuso, Fabio Grosso, Andrea Pirlo,
Luca Toni and Gianluca Zambrotta, with the title scheduled
to be assigned on December 18.
其他入圍５０人大名單的義大利人如上，十二月十八日公佈得主。
“Buffon deserves to win this award, but I don't think it will happen,”
said Deschamps in an interview to Radio Anch'io Lo Sport.
Deschamps在《Radio Anch'io Lo Sport》的專訪上說：
「Buffon夠資格贏得這個獎項，不過我不認為這會發生。」
“Unfortunately, I don't think winning the World Cup will be enough –
the Champions League is just as important.
「很不幸地，我不認為贏得世界盃就夠了，歐洲冠軍盃也一樣重要。」
“So it is very probable that a Barcelona player will win it.
Ronaldinho and Eto'o are the favourites,” added the Juve Coach.
「所以很可能會是 Barcelona的球員勝出，Ronaldinho、Eto'o都是熱門。」

“It is very difficult for a goalkeeper to win the Golden Ball,
although I obviously hope that Buffon will represent an exception.
「對門將來說要贏得金球獎非常困難，雖然我當然希望 Buffon能成為例外。」
“He has confirmed that he is an excellent player and
is putting in some great performances in Serie B.
「他已經證明自己是個優秀球員，在義乙也有許多精彩的表現。」
“His decision to stay with the club despite the relegation
was very important for us, but I don't want to talk about
an extension to his contract.
「他留隊的決定對我們來說非常重要，不過我不打算談論關於他的續約事宜。」
“We will see what happens, we have a very good relationship
and we will discuss this issue when the time will be right.”
「我們會看著辦，我們關係非常良好，將在彼此覺得合適的時間討論這個議題。」
The tactician also commented on CONI's decision to cut
the Calciopoli verdicts, granting Juve an eight-point discount
to their initial 17-point penalisation.
“I am not that impressed with it, the most severe penalisation
was our demotion to Serie B, as well as the two titles that
we were stripped of,” said the former midfielder.
Deschamps接著談到奧委會仲裁判決：「我沒什麼感覺，
最重的懲罰是我們降到義乙，還有兩個義甲冠軍被取消。」
“We started in the summer from Serie B at -30,
which was totally exaggerated.
「我們今夏從義乙帶－３０的罰分起步，那完全過重了。」
“Now the punishment remains severe, although it is better than before.
Juventus have paid dearly and are still doing so.
「現在懲罰還是很苛刻，儘管已經比之前好多了，JUVE已經付出重大代價。」
“In any case, with this discount and our good performances
on the pitch we can hope to achieve the promotion
that we are dreaming of,” concluded Deschamps.
「無論如何，有了罰分的縮減加上我們在賽場上的好表現，
我們就能希望達成我們夢想的升級。」
Juve earned their seventh straight win on Saturday,
defeating Frosinone at the Stadio Olimpico and celebrating
Alex Del Piero's 200th goal for the Bianconeri.
