Deschamps: “Continuity is key”
On the eve of the Bianconeri's first championship appointment
of the new year, Didier Deschamps gave the latest on the players
available for the trip to Mantova. “We'll be without Boumsong,
Chiellini, Legrottaglie, Giannichedda, Marchionni and Zanetti,
who's suffering from a small muscular problem. Palladino's still
struggling with his ankle and is more likely to feature on Tuesday”.
The coach also confirmed that Marchisio, Camoranesi and Zebina will
all travel to the Danilo Martinelli stadium.
ＤＤ說：「我們將缺少 Boumsong、Chiellini、Legrottaglie、
Giannichedda、Marchionni、Zanetti，後者有一點肌肉問題的困擾，
Palladino也還苦於腳踝傷，不過週二應該趕得上。」
The Frenchman hopes to have a number of those players back soon
but the question of the team's injury problems this season remains.
“I'd obviously rather have everyone available. We've been looking
for explanations for the number of injuries we've suffered this season
but it's not simple. Chiellini and Boumsong were involved heavily over
the first part of the season, perhaps too much, but it's not the number of
games that's the problem, it's the physical strain they put on the players.
Every game in Serie B requires 100% commitment as the games are more
physically demanding, especially as the opposition is always more motivated
when they're up against Juve. When you then consider how long the season is,
the risk of injury is increased”.
ＤＤ希望傷兵能盡快歸隊，但是對本季球隊傷病問題的疑惑還在，他說：
「我當然寧願全員到齊，我們還在找尋本季這麼多傷兵的解釋，這並不簡單，
Chiellini、Boumsong上半季角色吃重，或許太吃重了，但不是參與賽事數量的問題，
是肉體的緊繃造成的，每場義乙比賽都需要百分之百投注心力，
而且比賽對體能的要求更高，特別是對手總在面對 JUVE時格外來勁，
當你考量到這賽季有多長，受傷的風險是比較高。」
“I've spoken to Pintus, Scaravino, Corradini and all the medical staff
– Deschamps continued - and the fact remains that the injuries have
occurred in a variety of different muscles, in both match situations
and training. We're trying to determine the causes but there are no
straight forward explanations. The pitches we have here at Vinovo are
great but they still have a lot of bounce and that requires more from
the players' muscles when they run and jump; the grass needs time to grow”.
「我跟 Pintus、Scaravino、Corradini還有醫療團隊全體談過了，
事實上這些持續的傷情發生在多種不同的肌肉上，在比賽中或是訓練中也都有，
我們正在嘗試確定其原因，不過這並不會有直截了當的解釋，
在 Vinovo的場地很好，但還是會有許多彈跳（指球），
以致球員跑跳時需要用上更多肌肉；草地還需要時間生長。」
（簡言之就是場地很好但是不夠好，沒長好的草讓球員需要花額外的氣力。）
Talk then moved onto the game itself. “Am I worried about Mantova? No.
I've been counting on the group since the beginning of the season,
and so far, those players who might not have found much space to play
have been used far more than predicted. Continuity is key, we have to
maintain the same level of resilience and desire for the next 25 games”.
「我會否擔心與 Mantova交手？不會，我從本季一開始就很信賴這個團隊，
至今，某些可能覺得沒太多上場空間的球員，都比預料得參與了更多，
持續性才是關鍵，我們必須保持同水平的恢復力，還有對未來２５場比賽的渴望。」
The Frenchman was asked about any possible risks the team faces after
the winter break. “It's the same for every team. The first game back
is a test of how things stand after the break; sometimes things go well,
other times they don't. It's the coach's job to get the best out of
his team so we'll see. On the one hand, twenty days off is a good thing
as it allows the players to unwind, on the other hand the team can lose
its momentum. Having said that, the players showed a good mentality
against Milan last week so it's just a case of maintaining that over
the second half of the season”.
關於冬休後可能帶來的風險，Deschamps說：「這對每隻球隊都一樣，
首戰都是對收假後狀態維持的一種考驗；有時候事情進展不錯，有時候則不，
把球隊的最佳狀態引導出來是教練的工作，我們看就知道了，

The visit of John Elkann to the training ground on Thursday was
a welcome surprise. “For the coach and the players it's always a pleasure
to feel the closeness of the club and its owners. We've known since the
summer that they are with us, they hope as we do to see Juventus back
in Serie A as soon as possible. It's always a pleasure to have them talk
to us and I hope it's the same for them too”.
ＤＤ談到 John Elkann週四造訪訓練中心：「對教練與球員來說，
能感覺到球會老闆跟彼此的親近總是讓人開心，
我們在夏天就認識了，他們跟我們一樣希望看到 JUVE盡快回到義甲，
他們能來跟我們談話總是讓人心情愉快，我希望對他們來說也是如此。」
And will funds be made available for major investments in the team?
“Our objective for the moment is Serie A, but I suppose it's logical
people talk of the club's future with the transfer window open.
I'm convinced the owners will do all they can to make sure Juventus
is a competitive side, worthy of its history. It might take time to
rebuild the squad we had last year, but we have a shared conviction
to return as protagonists at the top. There will be plenty of time to
talk about transfers when we're back in Serie A, but in the meantime
we can do without the distraction”
球隊會不會有資金進行重大投資？ＤＤ說：「我們此刻的目標是義甲，
但是我認為在轉會窗口開啟期間人們談論球會未來是符合邏輯的，
我確信老闆們將盡所能讓 JUVE保持競爭力、配得上歷史，
要重建一隻像我們去季那樣的球隊可能需要時間，但是我們有共同的信念，
就是要重新成為頂端的主角，等我們回到義甲就有很多時間討論轉會事項了，
但是我們現在不能分心。」
The away trip to Mantova will require a top quality performance from
Deschamps' men. “They did very well last year and possibly deserved
to win promotion to Serie A. They've started well this season and
they have quality players which compliment their aggressive approach.
It's a sell-out crowd as well, so they will be even more motivated.
Consider also that a clash with Juventus is no average championship game
and we have a complicated test ahead of us”.
作客 Mantova需要打出最高水平的表現，ＤＤ說：「他們去季打得非常出色，
也許該贏得升甲的；他們本季該局也不錯，擁有值得讚美的一流球員，
球票一如往常銷售一空，所以他們更有動力，考量到這是跟 JUVE的交手，
可不是一般義乙賽事，我們面對的將是一場難解的考驗。」
The coach then closed proceedings with a brief reflection on the season
so far. “We had a brand new team when we started out in September
and we've had some good results over the last four months or so.
We can certainly improve though, and we have to remain convinced
we can win the rest of our games if we're going to gain promotion
to Serie A. However, this is a competitive group assembled with
that objective in mind, and we need to show the same toughness
as we have since September, irrespective of injuries and suspensions.
Unfortunately we have three central defenders sidelined at the moment,
but we hope to have them back at the beginning of February.
With five games this month that constitutes an emergency
but we hope there will be no further complications once they're back”.
ＤＤ最後談到最本季至今的簡短反省：「九月開跑時，我們擁有一隻全新的球隊，
在過去四個月左右打出不少好賽果，不過我們還能再進步，如果打算獲得升甲資格，
我們必須對自己能打贏剩下所有比賽保持信心，然而這個競爭集團的目標都相同，
不管傷病或是禁賽問題，我們都需要展現出自九月來同樣的難纏作風，
不幸的是我們有三個中後衛此刻都缺陣，希望二月初他們能歸隊，
本月份五場賽事的組成是個非常時刻，期盼他們回來後不會再有進一步的障礙。」
