Lippi rules out Juve return

Marcello Lippi has said he will “certainly not” be returning to Juventus
and aims to stay on the Italy bench beyond the 2010 World Cup.
Last week the rumour mill was spinning out of control with news that Lippi
had been spotted at lunch with Bianconeri general manager Jean-Claude Blanc.

With Claudio Ranieri on the brink following exits from the Champions League,
Scudetto race and Coppa Italia, there were claims the cigar-smoking
tactician was bound for a comeback.

“It is true I sat down with Blanc, but we only talked about Amauri,”
insisted Lippi at an educational event.
不過他自己說：「我跟布蘭克見面是事實，不過只有討論阿毛里。」
“I also have lunch with [Milan Vice-President Adriano] Galliani,
[Lazio President Claudio] Lotito and many more to discuss my players.
「我也有跟加利亞尼、洛蒂托跟許多其他人吃午餐討論我的球員。」
“I will certainly not return to Juventus. I am focused only on
the World Cup. My dream is to remain with Italy even after 2010,
assuming [FIGC President Giancarlo] Abete does't fire me first…”

One of the reasons Lippi was talking to Juve can be found in Italy
captain Fabio Cannavaro's shock comeback from Real Madrid two years
after walking out.
卡納瓦羅也被認為是雙方見面的原因之一。
“Cannavaro called me to say he was returning to Turin. I replied it
was a good move, as that way I could watch him more closely.”

The deal only requires details to be finalised,
as Cannavaro will be free from his contract in the summer,
but the fans have not taken this signing as a sign of going forward.
As always, Azzurri Coach Lippi was asked about his refusal to call
Antonio Cassano for international duty, but he skirted around the issue.

“We won the World Cup because everyone worked for their teammates
and nobody was higher up than anyone else.

I never imposed anything on them, my players were the ones who set their
own rules.
