It has recently been revealed that the Italy and Juventus goalkeeper,
Gianluigi Buffon, has been playing with an injured meniscus for quite
some time now, and that an operation is required to repair the damage caused.
(Buffon已經帶著半月板的傷上陣一陣子了，而醫生建議他接受手術)
Despite this though, the Italian national team doctor, Enrico Castellacci,
did explain that it was an injury that doesn’t cause the player any grief
or discomfort, however an operation would still have to be undertaken
sometime soon.
(儘管如此，醫生也說這種傷並不會讓球員感到不舒服)
For the first time since the reports have been released, Buffon himself
has given his take on the situation.
(消息放出來後，Buffon也表示了自己的看法)
“It’s a problem that I have been carrying around for a long time,”
Superman explained to Corriere dello Sport. “But I feel fine, and it’s
something from nothing really.

“I do not know whether I will play against Cyprus on Wednesday, probably
because [the coach Marcello] Lippi will opt to play others, but I would
still be able to take to the field.

“I think I should rest, but because I really want to be there on Saturday
against Fiorentina, I will just play.”

It is likely that Buffon will go under the knife in December, after the
Bianconeri’s clash with the reigning champions Inter, before returning
for the first match of 2010 against Parma.
