The accolades keep coming for new Juventus vice president Pavel Nedved,
who was awarded the Medal of Merit at last night’s ceremony in his
native Czech Republic.
榮譽持續加諸新任Juventus副主席Pavel Nedved，昨晚他在祖國捷克獲頒Medal of
Merit勳章。
The recognition, given to those who have provided meritorious services to
the state, was presented to him directly by the nation’s president Milos
Zeman in Prague.
此勳章頒給對國家有傑出貢獻的人士，在布拉格由捷克總統Milos Zeman親自授予。
Speaking afterwards, Nedved said: “I’m genuinely thrilled. Up until
this point the Ballon d’Or was the most prestigious accolade I’d
received, but this honour is even more important. Throughout history, the
Medal of Merit has been given to true heroes and to be associated with
them is a great honour for me.”
獲頒勳章之後，Nedved說：「我真的非常高興，在這之前我以為金球獎是我獲得的
聲望最高的獎項，但這個勳章更加重要。綜觀歷史，這個勳章頒給了真正的英雄，
能與他們一同受獎對我來說是極高的榮譽。」

The Medal of Merit (Czech: Medaile Za zásluhy) is an award of the Czech
Republic which comes in three grades, the First Grade being the highest.
It is awarded to people for service to the Republic in a number of
different public areas, including: “the economy, science, technology,
culture, arts, sports, enlightenment and education, defense and security
of the state and the people”.
