After waiting since May to return to the court while rehabilitating his surgically repaired left knee, Webber wanted to play Sunday night against the Orlando Magic, even though he had played 32 minutes Saturday afternoon against the Miami Heat. However, Kings coach Rick Adelman wasn't thinking about Webber's wishes when he decided the power forward would sit out Sunday. The coach knew Webber badly wanted to play but took the hit and gave his star the bad news. Playing in the second game of a back-to-back, what Webber called his final challenge, would have to wait, probably until later this week. "Whatever," Webber said after the game. "I wanted to play, but whatever. (My knee) felt better (Sunday) than it did (Saturday), so from that stand- point, I know I can play back-to-backs now. "I'm ready to go back to what I was doing before." Webber was told his movements on the court didn't display that same readiness. "I really don't care what it looks like," he said. "I just need to get out there and push myself." Adelman said he made the call. "We've been taking it each day as it came, and it was my decision," he said. "I felt this early in him coming back, combined with it being back-to-back games, I thought it made sense. Now he has two days until we play again (Tuesday at home against Golden State). We have back-to-backs next week, too, and I'm sure he'll play in those. "Our schedule is a lot better because we're playing the first two at home, then Portland, then back at home (against San Antonio). I thought it was best to be cautious this time."
