As if the uncertain pairing of Tyreke Evans and Kevin Martin wasn't enough to
keep Kings coach Paul Westphal up at night, his frontcourt continues to
struggle.

Second-year forward Jason Thompson logged just 16 minutes Monday in the
Kings' loss to Charlotte, marking the fourth game in the last five in which
he has played 23 minutes or less. It has been part foul trouble and part
ineffectiveness for Thompson, who has hit 26 of 74 shots (35.1 percent) in
the last seven games.

He drew his fifth foul with 8:25 left in the third quarter Monday and
returned for the final second of the game.

against Charlotte and had six points and four rebounds. "Some of this stuff

Martin doesn't play fourth – The sixth-year shooting guard didn't play in
the fourth quarter, as Westphal went with the lineup that sparked a late
comeback.

Westphal had tried and failed to find the right combinations, even playing 10
players in the first quarter in which they trailed by as many as 11 points.
So when Evans, Beno Udrih, Donté Greene, Anderson Nocioni and Jon Brockman
got it going, Westphal said he wasn't about to re-insert a starter. Ime Udoka
was the only other player to see time in that quarter, logging three minutes.

lowest scoring total since he scored nine points against Miami on Oct. 31,
2008, he said he understood Westphal's decision to sit him.

"When a lineup has it going, you should always stick with that," Martin said.
"That was a good choice by coach."

Armstrong plays – Newly acquired Hilton Armstrong played for the first time
since being traded to the Kings from New Orleans on Jan. 12, logging 10
minutes. He had a monstrous block when he swatted Stephen Jackson's dunk late
in the first quarter.

"It felt good to be on the floor," Armstrong said. "That's what I do, just
try to be there for weak-side help (defensively).

it, so I just took advantage of it."
