[外電] Pollard 專訪 ﹝中﹞ The Kings seemed like a very close-knit team during your tenure. How close were you with your teammates? The Kings teams while I was there were extremely close. We had a lot of good times, and for right now, I'd like to keep most of those good times between the guys that enjoyed them with me! However, here's a good story that is fairly innocent, as well as a great example of how close we were. It was Jason Williams' birthday, and we were heading to Dallas. We talked on the way there that we were all going to go out and celebrate, even though we had to play the (Mavericks) the next night. By the time we arrived at the hotel in the bus, we had all agreed that we would run upstairs, drop our stuff off, and be back on the bus in 15 minutes — we paid the bus driver to stick around (and he was) a great sport! Every guy on the team came back down, we went to some clubs — (I'm) not going to name them — and had a great night as friends. We got back a little late, but not one guy was late to shootaround the next day. And if memory serves me right, we not only beat the Mavs, but we beat them by more than 20. The difference between guys going out and having fun, and guys going out and having too much fun is maturity. We all had our fun, but we never lost sight of what we were being paid to do. and that was win games. Did you have any pre-game routines? (I would) wake up, head to shootaround, eat a donut the rookie brought in, change into practice gear, and (go through) shootaround. (I'd go) back home, eat lunch, nap, wake up, head to the arena, eat some bad arena snacks about an hour before the game, (and drink a) Red Bull. (I would) listen to a few loud heavy metal songs and to Coach's pregame speech. I kept to this basic routine, but I didn't have any superstitious stuff. If I missed a nap, (I didn't mind) if I didn't get a good lunch. Oh well, I'd make up for it after the game with a big meal. What were the inspirations behind the looks and which would you say is your all-time favorite? You know, hair just keeps growing back on me — I cut it, it grows back. I loved seeing how I would look with different hair styles and facial hair. "Why not?" is the mindset I had. My favorite look was actually in Cleveland, when I had a blond mohawk and small braids in my beard. I thought that looked really cool. However, that look was only cool on the court. I wore a hat everywhere I went, because my head was so cold in Cleveland's winter! I miss having long hair, (even though) it is a pain to keep up. Also, my forehead is growing, so when I grow it out now, I kind of grow a natural mullet. 雖然長髮很難整理，但我還是想留長髮，我的前額也會長頭髮，當前額的頭髮留長，我看起來就像一隻鯡魚，我目前正在留長，看看到時會像甚麼。 Who were the toughest players you went up against in your career, and how did you prepare to face them? The toughest player I had to guard was Shaquille O'Neal. When he was in his prime, he was unstoppable. My preparation for him was the same as everyone else, but it was tougher to deal with being scored on a lot because that is something I didn't let anyone do against me. All anyone could really do was try to make him work a little harder. No one else I ever guarded ever made me feel that helpless. I pushed, he (spun) to the basket. I backed off, he took up the space and dunked on me. I denied him the ball, he spun for an alley-oop. I prided myself in shutting centers down, and making them hate me in the process. With him, I just made sure I didn't foul him too much early, so I had fouls for later in the game. And when I fouled him, a guy that shoots around 50% from the line, it seemed like he always made them against us, and then he'd look at me and smile. I wanted to hate that guy, but for all of the hacks, pushes, cheap shots, and everything else I could throw at him, he never was a jerk to me. I really think he's a cool dude.
