[外電] 節食15天,安東尼:我要大嗑一塊牛排
As the New York Knicks have faltered over the past few games, Carmelo Anthony
revealed that he has been fasting for the past two weeks, leaving him low on
energy.
Anthony told the media about his fasting after the Knicks' 100-87 win over
the New Orleans Hornets, as that game started with a familiar sight: a
slow-starting Carmelo.
Of course, he finally did pull himself together and helped the Knicks to a
win, but the admission came as some surprise to a lot of folks.
Many people will be pleased to hear, however, that Carmelo is going back to
eating after the Knicks beat the Hornets (per Adam Zagoria of SNYTV):
I haven’t had a good meal in about two-and-a-half weeks. No meats, no carbs,
anything like that. So I don’t know how I was out there competing at high
level. It’s been some games this past week where your body just feels
depleted out there and you’re trying to find a way to get some energy.
But I surrender, I’m done. I’m going to get some food right now.
I’m going to get me the biggest steak I can possibly get.
With New York struggling to string wins together, many have been looking for
reasons as to why, and this admission by Anthony might just be something to
take a look at.
He started out shooting an ugly 1-of-7 from the floor against the Hornets,
scoring just two points, and he went 1-of-9 with two points in the first
quarter against their previous game, a loss to the Chicago Bulls.
After the first quarters in those two games, Anthony combined for 62 points,
all on 21-of-41 from the floor.
So there were slow starts involved, but he mostly rounded into shape
throughout the games and ended up having fine outings throughout the course
of this fast.

If we go back 15 days, it would put us back at December 30. Since then, the
Knicks are just 3-4, but their losses all come against teams in the playoff
race, so it's not like they aren't inexcusable.
Carmelo has averaged 32 points per game in that stretch, and while he's shot
well below his season average at just over 42 percent, he hasn't been the
problem with the Knicks.
It's the injury bug biting, the ball fizzing around the perimeter with less
vim and vigor, and three-pointers just not falling at the same rate that they
did in the previous two months.
If anything, it's almost impressive that Anthony kept his production up so
high over the course of his 15-day fast. It must be hard to sink free throws
or get to the rim late in games with no meat or carbs to help him along.
The knee-jerk reaction is to call it a bad thing, but he seemed to play well
enough in those six games (he was suspended for one of the seven games in the
past 15 days), so it seems hard to criticize the guy if there's not much
drop-off in production to talk about.
Of course, not to be out-done, Amar'e Stoudemire also admitted to a change in
diet in the recent past.
Apparently, however, switching to a vegan diet means he has to refrain from
gobbling up too many rebounds, as well as any animal products.
