Q: How is the team feeling, one day before the final? A: We’re facing an opportunity that will never come around again. As a team, we’ve already made history, and now it’s worth it to fight for the final. Q: Have you all heard about how excited people are in Spain? A: We know what we’ve been told from our families, that there is a lot of hope and people are really supporting the team. Q: This will be the game of your lives. A: There’s nothing like it. With our teams, we’ve lived through finals, titles, great nights, but there’s nothing like getting to the final of a World Cup and winning it. If that happens, we can’t ask for anything more. Q: Who would have thought it would come to this that afternoon in May when you were at the pediatrician with your son Dylan and you found out that you were going to the World Cup! A: (Laughs). I’ve been very happy since the first day. I enjoy each training session like a kid, each day of the training camp with my teammates. For me, being here has been a great reward. Q: Is it hard for a goalkeeper who starts on his team, won six titles in one season and has been the Zamora to know that it’s almost impossible for him to play? A: The truth is no. That’s how you may see it from the outside, but I enjoy every day, I observe and try to learn from everything I see. It’s true that I suffer a lot on the bench because it’s a new sensation for me. There’s more tension there than when you’re playing. But if we win the World Cup, no one will be happier than me. Q: You’re new to the team. Is the atmosphere really that great? A: Yes, because it’s a team made up of great persons and it’s full of people that want to continue winning. Winning everything. That’s the base. Q: What does Casillas mean to the team? A: Iker means everything. He’s the captain, the goalkeeper that’s making history, setting records and playing every game. As a captain, he’s a person involved in every aspect of the project, and he’s very involved in the day to day of what makes this a team. Q: Does it make you laugh to go back and read all that’s been said about you and Pepe Reina? A: I have confidence that as times passes, all of this will remain what it is, gossip. We have a very good relationship and my mission here has always been to work and give all that I can to benefit the team. Q: Does it bother you that you’ve almost always been talked about as an ogre who would break the good ambiance of the team? A: I’ve always stayed away from polemic situations. I just do my work and don’t pay attention to what is said. Q: How happy were you with Puyol’s goal, for what it meant and for who scored it? A: You can imagine. Puyi is everything for me. He’s been my captain since I made it to the first team of Barcelona and is someone very special to me. We won’t know the value of that goal until we know whether we win or lose the World Cup. It reminded me of Iniesta’s goal in Stamford Bridge. When we won the Champions League in Rome, I told him that he became a part of history. It’ll be the same with Puyol, if we become champions. Q: Against Germany, there were seven Barcelona players in the starting XI. A: That shouldn’t be the focus. There are a lot of us here, but what’s important is the national team, not what team we came from. Q: What would you give to be champions of the world? A: The same as all my teammates, everything that we have inside of us. http://conlaroja.wordpress.com/2010/07/10/the-marca-interview-victor-valdes/#more-2162 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.113.176.67
