Brand scored 27 points and Rebraca had 19 and a career-high 16 rebounds as the Clippers held on for a 96-85 victory and completed the first season sweep of the Warriors in franchise history. Golden State was without two of its better post players. Power forward Troy Murphy was sidelined after fracturing his left thumb against the Seattle SuperSonics and forward Cliff Robinson was limited to just five minutes with a stiff lower back. In their absence, Los Angeles outrebounded Golden State, 54-34, and scored 21 second-chance points while grabbing a franchise-record 21 offensive rebounds. Brand was forced to the bench after he was whistled for two fouls in the first three minutes. Rebraca stepped up in his place, scoring 17 points in the first half to help the Clippers battle to a 49-49 tie at the break. After playing just 11 minutes in the first half, a well-rested Brand scored five straight points as Los Angeles went on a 10-2 run over the first 3 1/2 minutes of the second half. Rick Brunson's jumper capped the burst and gave the Clippers a 59-51 lead. Calbert Cheaney's three-point play reduced the deficit to 87-83 with 4:46 remaining, but the Clippers answered with a decisive 8-0 spurt over the next three minutes. Brand triggered it with an 11-footer and Rebraca added a jumper. Brunson scored 17 points, making a career-high five 3-pointers, and eight assists. Jaric added 10 points and a career-high 12 assists.
