He was a third team All-America selection by Associated Press and the Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player. One of 20 finalists for the James Naismith Award and one of 22 finalists for the John Wooden Award , Cook was also a finalist for the USBWA Player of the Year. Cook ranks third in Illini history in scoring with 1,748 career points and fifth in school history in rebounding with 815 boards. He was the Big Ten scoring champion, finishing league play with a scoring a verage of 20 points and ranked third in the Big Ten in rebounding with an average of 7.6 boards. As a senior, Cook led Illinois in scoring 22 times and was the Illini's leading rebounder 20 times. Scored at least 15 points in 27 of his 30 games, including 18 games of 20-plus points. Cook recorded eight double-doubles on the season. Named preseason Big Ten Player of the Year by the media.
