Lakers promote Rambis to front office job

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) -- Former Los Angeles Lakers player and
coach Kurt Rambis has been appointed to the newly created position
of vice president of business and basketball integration, the
team announced Wednesday.
Rambis will serve as an adviser to team owner Jerry Buss and
consult with both the Lakers and the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks
on business development matters.
Rambis has been an assistant coach with the Lakers the past three
seasons. He was previously an adviser and assistant general manager,
as well as the team's interim coach for part of the 1998-99 season.
He played on the Lakers' NBA championship teams of 1982, 1985, 1987
and 1988.
