Lakers put emphasis on Odom

Given three consecutive days of practice for the first time this season, the
Lakers returned to game action Wednesday night with some new wrinkles.
"I've thrown a whole bunch of junk at them, a whole bunch of stuff," Coach Rudy
Tomjanovich said.
One of the adjustments was immediately effective in the Lakers' 113-110 loss to
Phoenix. The Lakers showed renewed focus on Lamar Odom lining up on the low
post, the right side of the court, one of his favorite spots.
Odom finished with 19 points on 9-of-14 shooting. It was his biggest scoring
output since Nov. 13.
That offensive alignment placed Kobe Bryant on the opposite side of the court,
in the left corner. On several occasions, once Odom had established his
low-post threat against the smallish Suns, he drew double-teams and moved the
ball, with it ending up in the unguarded Bryant's hands for three-pointers from
the left corner.
But Odom tried to force a move from that low block and traveled with 3:05 to
play and the Lakers leading, 107-104. Nine seconds later, Phoenix's Steve Nash
hit a tying three-pointer, and the Lakers never got the lead back.
NOTES
Bryant missed a three-pointer before the final buzzer that would have forced
overtime if good. It was well contested by Phoenix's ShawnMarion. ... Bryant b
ecame the first NBA player since Jason Kidd in December 2003 to have
triple-doubles in consecutive games. ... Rookie Sasha Vujacic was activated
from the injured list; newly signed Tony Bobbitt was deactivated.
