內容：One of the fall-outs of the Los Angeles Lakers poor season is that the
team will be under pressure to gut the lineup, in addition to the problem
of cutting down the excessive payroll they amounted last summer.
However, the issue with this is, the majority of the starting
lineup remain under contract.
Metta World Peace still has a one-year player’s option left on his contract.
According to Sam Amico of Fox Sports, the Lakers are reportedly hoping that
World Peace will decide not to exercise his opt-in clause.

The Lakers desire for World Peace to opt-out is more a reflection on the
new Collective Bargaining Agreement that will come into play next season
and less of a reflection on World Peace himself.
The new CBA means that the Lakers will have to pay a tax on World Peace’s
final contract year.
He will clear $7,727,280 in salary, but cost an additional $30 million in taxes.
而湖人隊會想要叫MWP跳出選項的原因，比較可能來自於新CBA制度的影響，
而不是MWP本人的意願。
新的CBA制度下，湖人隊將因MWP最後一年的薪資付稅。

In the end, if the Lakers bring in a new guy, then they don’t have to pay an
outlandish amount of taxes on him.

World Peace will be 34 years old in November. This past season,
he averaged five rebounds, 1.5 assists and 12.4 points. But, his defensive
play has declined significantly.

The Lakers first objective, even more important than controlling payroll
and luxury taxes, is to win a championship. They feel that in order
to do this, they must keep three maximum contract players in Pau Gasol,
Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard. If the Lakers don’t want to them on the
roster, they will not want to use the amnesty on World Peace because
they will want to use it on Gasol.
World Peace has simply found himself in an unfortunate situation.

他們覺得如果要奪冠，他們必須保留三張頂薪: P.Gasol + K.Bryant + D.Howard。
