Injury fear for Nalbandian
Fourth seed David Nalbandian could be in danger of missing Wimbledon with a
rib injury.
Nalbandian was forced to retire after just five games of an exhibition match
against Chilean Nicolas Massu at Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire on Friday.
The 2002 Wimbledon finalist is yet to make a statement on his condition but
there are fears he could be forced to withdraw from the tournament.
His first round opponent is scheduled to be tricky Croatian Mario Antic.
Nalbandian, who reached the semi-finals of the US Open last year, is seeded
to meet Tim Henman in the quarter-finals.
But the injury is a major blow to a player who uses strength and fitness to
grind down opponents from the baseline.
If he is forced to withdraw, his place will be taken by a lucky loser from
the qualifying draw.
