https://sports.ltn.com.tw/news/breakingnews/5155163 提及台灣在內的棒球旅程難忘前獅投衛蘭德發表退休感言〔記者林宥辰／台北報導〕統一獅今年簽下的35歲洋投衛蘭德（Joe Wieland）於7月底向球團表達想退休，最終離隊，本季僅在二軍出賽、並未正式登錄。衛蘭德今在個人IG發表退休感言，直言這段遍及日本、南韓、墨西哥和台灣的棒球生涯，是他永生難忘的回憶。衛蘭德寫下：「在職業棒球場上奮戰18年，是時候高掛釘鞋。小時候，我最大的夢想是成為一名大聯盟球員。聽到自己在選秀會上被叫到名字、在2012年完成大聯盟初登場，對我來說是夢想成真。能夠在日本、韓國、墨西哥和台灣打球，更是我一輩子都不會忘記的經歷。」衛蘭德感謝上帝恩典，也感謝父母支持，在一次次犧牲假期、深夜練習的陪伴下，讓他更加進步完成夢想，衛蘭德感性說，希望自己沒讓父母失望。衛蘭德同時感謝並肩作戰的隊友、指導過他的教練，合作過的防護員和翻譯等行政人員，和這些人共事，是他的美好回憶。最後，衛蘭德寫下對妻子的感激，他說：「謝謝妳為了支持我，將我的志業擺在妳的事業之前，陪我一起征戰亞洲3個國家，且獨力照顧3個孩子。我知道這段瘋狂的旅程並非妳原本設想的，但妳始終支持我，沒有妳的支持，我無法走到今天。」衛蘭德說，棒球這項運動，讓他效力13個球團、跨越5個不同國家，塑造了如今的他，他期盼在上帝帶領下，為下一個人生階段做準備。衛蘭德IG原文 https://www.instagram.com/p/DNwGc6R5L7U/?img_index=1 jwieland108 Thank you, Baseball! After 18 yrs of professional baseball, it’s time to hang ‘em up. As a kid, all I wanted was to be a Major League Baseball player. Hearing my name called on draft day and making my MLB debut in 2012 was a dream come true. Playing in Japan, Korea, Mexico and Taiwan were experiences I will never forget. Thank you, God, for blessing me with the gift to play professional baseball. Because of your grace I got to enjoy this game for more than half my life. Thank you, Mom and Dad, for everything you did. All the time and money you sacrificed. The lessons, late nights in the cage, out of town tournaments and skipped vacations because of baseball. You always pushed me to be better and supported me every step of the way. I hope I made you proud. Thank you to all my teammates, coaches, trainers and translators. It was a pleasure getting to share the field with you and I will cherish all the memories we built. Lastly, thank you to my wife. Putting your career on hold to support mine. Picking up your life and moving to 3 different Asian countries. Solo parenting 3 kids. I know this crazy journey was not quite what you signed up for, but you always supported me and I could not have done it without you.
