REDS WELCOME NEW ACADEMY APPOINTMENT

Liverpool Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of Malcolm
Elias as the Academy's new Director of Recruitment.
Elias, who has been actively involved in youth football for 20 years, joins
the Reds from Southampton where he held a similar position
He has been an important member of the Saints staff since April 2000 and was
instrumental in helping to nurture the talents of Theo Walcott among others.
Previous to this, he'd played a major role in the setting up of youth
programmes at Oxford United and Swansea City.
In his various coaching and recruitment capacities Elias has gained a wealth
of experience and holds the UEFA A licence.
Ex-Liverpool skipper Mark Wright, Martin Keown and Garry Parker are just a
few of the many players other players who have benefited from his guidance in
the past.
A delighted Liverpool Chief Executive Rick Parry said today: "Malcolm has a
fantastic track record at Southampton and an extremely good reputation.
"We've been looking to expand our recruitment department at The Academy for
some time, and this appointment is part of that. As ever, we've taken an
opportunity to bring one of the best in the business to Liverpool."
