Raul closer to sealing free switch to Liverpool

Real Madrid captain Raul wants a move to Liverpool at the end of this season.
DiarioSport says talks are already at an advanced stage between Raul and Real
about securing a release from his contract, which expires in 2010. Raul, who
is on ￡8 million-a-year, will have to take a pay-cut to move to Anfield, but
he wants to join Rafa Benitez's Liverpool in the summer.
Raul has accepted his time at Real is coming to an end and his agent, Gines
Carvajal, said on the weekend: "If Raul must leave Real Madrid, he will
choose his destination. It will be very easy: he loves England."
Liverpool boss Benitez will welcome Raul with open arms, particularly on a
free transfer. The Spaniard would be the perfect replacement for Robbie
Fowler, who is unlikely to be offered a new deal at the end of this season.
