Benayoun signs for Chelsea
Yossi Benayoun will leave Liverpool for Premier League champions Chelsea,
according to reports in his native Israel.
The website of Tel Aviv-based TV channel Sport 5 reported that the former
West Ham playmaker, 30, will sign a four-year deal with the Blues after
agreeing a compromise on his valuation.
It was reported that Chelsea offered ￡4 million for Benayoun, with the Reds
holding out for ￡10m.
Benayoun scored nine goals for Liverpool last season but was one of several
players rumoured to have fallen out with boss Rafael Benitez, who left
Anfield earlier this month.
Benayoun would be a straight replacement for England attacking midfielder Joe
Cole, who will be released by Chelsea when his contract expires at the end of
the month.
