The then 18-year-old defender, who put in another impressive display for Liverpool as they fended off a spirited Roma to make the Champions League final on Wednesday, complained of being penniless as he tried to break into the world of professional football. Tweeting in 2012, he wrote: 'Life at this age is rubbish with no money #needajob.' After several Liverpool fans spotted the message still sitting on his Twitter feed, it has gone viral and since garnered over 17,000 likes and retweets on the social media platform while many fans have posted their congratulations for his rapid rise. Indeed, Robertson is far from penniless now and earns ￡50,000 per week at Anfield. That kind of money would have seemed alien to the youngster who sent that tweet, who had just signed his first professional contract for Scottish League One club Queen's Park. He spent just one season at Queen's Park before moving onto Dundee United. Once again, another impressive campaign saw Hull City come calling in 2014, where he would spend three seasons before finally making the move to Anfield last summer. The 24-year-old has since established himself as Jurgen Klopp's first-choice left back and justified that position with another fearless display in the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night. He is likely to line up for Liverpool in their Champions League final against Real Madrid on May 26, and reflected on his journey after guiding Liverpool past the Italian outfit. Robertson said: 'When I signed here, I dreamed of these nights and I took my time to find my feet but I'm here now - what a night tonight and the first leg was unbelievable. 'It's been an unbelievable journey from the start to now,' the left-back said.
