Prospect Harben has good fastball
Righthanders J.D. Durbin and Jesse Crain have received most of the attention
when Twins pitching prospects are discussed. The farm system has others, but
they aren't quite as polished.
Rigthander Adam Harben is one of them.
Harben threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings on Thursday for Class A Quad City in a
1-0 victory over Burlington. He gave up four hits and a walk while striking
out 10.
His fastball was clocked between 90 and 96 miles an hour, with most settling
in at 93 mph. And he did it in front of Jim Rantz, the Twins' director of
minor leagues, and Hall of Famer Rod Carew on hand to throw out the first
pitch at Quad City's home opener.
"He was dealing," said Rob Antony, the Twins' director of baseball operations
"His fastball has good life. He throws a slider, but he doesn't throw his
change-up enough."
In four starts, the 6-5 Harben is 1-2 with a 1.69 ERA. A 15th-round pick in
2002, Harben was 5-6 with a 4.33 ERA for Quad City last season.
Moreno, Korecky strong for New Britain
Righthanders Victor Moreno and Bobby Korecky are former Phillies farmhands.
Moreno was drafted by the Twins in the minor league phase of the 2002 Rule V
draft. Korecky came to the club with Carlos Silva and Nick Punto in exchange
for Eric Milton during the offseason.
Moreno has thrown 12 scoreless innings for Class AA New Britain as a setup
man for Korecky. Korecky is 2-1 with a 2.89 ERA and four saves.
Moreno's 91 mph fastball is complemented by a curveball and slider. Korecky,
who has excellent control, throws a 90 mph fastball and a slider.
Liriano impressive at Fort Myers
The early returns on lefthander Francisco Liriano have been good. Liriano
arrived from San Francisco as part of the A.J. Pierzynski deal with a
reputation for throwing hard but wildly.
He's 1-2 with a 3.10 ERA through four starts at Class A Fort Myers. He has
struck out 23 in 20 1/3 innings but has walked 11.
"He's settling in around 92-93 mph,' Antony said. "He has been clocked up to
95 mph and has thrown harder than that in the past."
Since Liriano appears to have such a great arm, the organization is more than
willing to work with him.
"He's a good-looking pitcher," Rantz said. "He just needs to get some innings
in and let his breaking ball and slider develop."
Pulido thrashed in Rochester
Class AAA Rochester was hammered 25-13 by Buffalo on Thursday as lefthander
Carlos Pulido, making his first start since being sent down from the majors,
was rocked for nine earned runs in two-thirds of an inning.
That computes to a 121.50 ERA.
Shortstop Jason Bartlett was 4-for-5 in the game and is batting .378.

我懶得翻譯了,大家自己找一下重點。
前面講到幾個 pitching prospect,
最後一段說 Pulido 回到 3A 後被打爆,
還有提到內野新秀 Bartlett。
25-13?這是什麼比賽啊!
