FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Twins made a slew of roster cuts Monday morning, with
the most notable being the decision to option infielder Tsuyoshi Nishioka to
Triple-A Rochester.
Nishioka, 27, hit .240 with a .269 on-base percentage and a .320 slugging
percentage in nine games this spring, but he never looked comfortable at the
plate or in the field.
The decision to option Nishioka this early in camp came as somewhat of a
surprise, especially given the fact that he's in the second year of a
three-year deal worth $9.25 million.
