Rumors were beginning to swirl about Phillips being used as a trade asset later in the season. Quietly, the Reds front office offered him six years for $72.5 million. Phillips says that Reds General Manager Walt Jocketty and team owner Bob Castellini—chairman of Castellini Co., the billion-dollar national produce distributor—made clear it was all the team could offer. 補一下Votto的回應： http://ppt.cc/LgNk "Brandon is always totally honest," Votto said. "He's been my teammate for six or seven years now, and I love playing with him. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him. "What he said has nothing to do with me, but what he had to say makes me like him even more. He's honest. Most players stick to using catch phrases -- like I'm doing now -- but he will tell you how he feels at that moment." Votto認為Phillips是個非常棒的隊友，直來直往，也相當尊敬他、喜歡跟他一起打球。
