Almost got a rare assist with a gently chipped cross Patrice Evra - 7 Maintained a fairly high line as soon as he realised he was unlikely to be pressed defensively and almost scored in the closing stages Park Ji-Sung - 7 The energetic midfielder provided his usual hearty performance and was always available in attack and defence Antonio Valencia - 8 Hugged the right touchline consistently but perhaps should have had a greater influence against such flat opposition Ryan Giggs - 8 A lively display from the Champions League veteran. Missed a couple of golden opportunities in the first half but buried the all-important opener Michael Carrick - 7 Scarcely required as a defensive shield but tidy enough in possession Wayne Rooney - 9 Troubled the Germans' defence throughout, whether creating from a deep position or breaking into the box. Good finish for well-earned goal Javier Hernandez - 7 The Mexican forward repeatedly got into scoring positions but for once his radar was off.
